Producing For H.E.R.

Singer-songwriter, HER has long been one of my favourite artists, from her first ep, “HER Vol. 1”, to her latest album as of writing, “Back of my mind”. Her penmanship, songwriting and musicianship are next-level. She’s a triple threat.

So in this video, I attempt to produce a track for her. I drew inspiration from a song from the new album ft. Ty Dolla $ign and album title track, “Back of my mind”. And in fact, I sampled the drums.

This tutorial focuses on writing and building around an R&B chord progression. One that uses tri-tone replacements to deliver a bonified R&B vibe.
